Sigma & Pi Bonds Role in structure and shape

Postby Justin Quan 4I » Fri Dec 06, 2019 10:24 am

What are sigma & pi bond's role in structure and shape in organic and biological molecules?

Sigma bonds allow molecules to rotate whereas pi bonds fixate molecules in that position. Molecules with sigma bonds, therefore, are more flexible in structures.

I think the biggest thing is that pi bonds can't rotate, so molecules with pi bonds can't change shape, and can't rotate to bond with things unless the pi bond is broken.
