Does it matter if we draw a structure cis or trans?

Hi, when we draw a Lewis structure from a chemical formula given, does it matter if we draw the structure in a cis layout or a trans layout? If so, how would we know which layout to draw it?

You would be asked to draw the cis or trans.

If cis/trans is not specified, then both would be accepted. (My house of fair rules. :-)
