Alternate Ways of Finding Most Likely Structure
I am aware that you can use formal charge in order to determine which Lewis Structure arrangement is most likely. But, I was wondering if it's possible for multiple Lewis structures to have equivalent formal charges for their constituent atoms, and if this occurs, what alternative criteria or factors can be employed to determine the most favored Lewis structure among them?

Re: Alternate Ways of Finding Most Likely Structure
I believe at that point to find the most favorable lewis structure you would need to be given clues or told characteristics of the molecules structure.
Re: Alternate Ways of Finding Most Likely Structure
One way is to know the periodic table, the more "down" the periodic table it is, the more likely that the element is the center, though there are some exceptions to this and it is better to use formal charge.

Re: Alternate Ways of Finding Most Likely Structure
If resonance structures have the same formal charge for each atom, these resonance structures have equivalent energy and will contribute equally to the overall structure of the molecule.
