Textbook question 2B.5

Postby Miguel Hernandez LEC 3 » Tue Dec 05, 2023 2:39 am

Here is the following question: Draw the Lewis structure of (a) tetrahydridoborate ion,BH42; (b) hypobromite ion, BrO2; (c) amide ion, NH22

My specific concern regarding this question is the names of the ions. For the final, are we supposed to have the name of the ion with the chemical formula memorized or would the formula be provided along with the names?

I wouldn't stress too much about memorizing the names of all these ions, but gaining an understanding of the prefixes and names of the elements would be helpful. Also, things that lavelle goes over in class are fair game, so rewatching the lectures to know which elements you do kind of have to memorize would be helpful.
