Hey, can someone explain what sigma and pi bonds are again, and when we see them? Thanks!

sigma is the first type of covalent bond, and they are formed when they overlap with an atomic orbital head to head (like infinity sign) and you can find those in single, double and triple bonds. As in for pi bonds they are the second and third type of covalent bonds and they are formed by overlap p orbitals that are side to side, and they only exist in double and triple bonds.
