Elements that have extended octets
So I know that Phosphorus (P) and Sulfur (S) both have extended octets meaning that they can have more than 8 electrons with them. Are all elements below them also extended octets for only certain ones like Xenon (Xe)?

Re: Elements that have extended octets
I believe anything after the 3rd row, so with the introduction of the d orbitals, can have an expanded octet.

Re: Elements that have extended octets
Any element in and past the 3rd period has hybridizable d orbitals that can form a new set of orbitals to hold more than 8 valence electrons.

Any elements in period 3 and later can have an expanded octet.
