Stability/ Midterm
If the Lewis structure I found for the compounds on the midterm had all formal charges equal to zero, was that the most stable? Is the structure with formal charges equal to zero the most stable in all cases, including radicals?

Re: Stability/ Midterm
Yes lowest energy is when the formal charges are closest to zero. In the midterm i believe that the structures all had formal charges of zero for every element, including the radical for the carbon. But in any case, it's too late to change anything anyways so welp

Re: Stability/ Midterm [ENDORSED]
All the midterm Lewis structures came from the homework questions.
In class I kept on announcing: do the homework problems
Give an octet to the atoms with higher electronegativity and less than an octet (radical) on the atom with lower electronegativity.
See homework questions illustrating this.
