Midterm Question CH3SH

So I bonded carbon with 3 hydrogens and bonded carbon with sulfur (sulfur has 2 lone pairs) and bonded sulfur with hydrogen. It has a total of 14 e-. Just wanted to compare and check if I got this right. Thanks!

the reasoning behind it is because carbon is slightly less electronegative than sulfur; thus, carbon would be the main central atom with 3 hydrogens surrounding it as carbon atoms are larger than hydrogens which will most likely never be the central atom as they are small, highly electronegative atoms that will most often be on the outside of the central atoms.

This confuses me. I would think that sulfur would be the central atom, as sulfur has a lower ionization energy than carbon. When I look at a chart for ionization energy, carbon is 1086.5 kJ/mol while sulfur is 999.6 kJ/mol.

Would you know that the three H-atoms are bonded to C because of how it's written in CH3SH?

I got that 3 Hydrogens are bonded to Carbon and Carbon also shares a single bond with Sulfur. Sulfur has 2 sets of lone pairs. Hydrogen is bonded to Sulfur. Carbon is the least electronegative, so it is the central atom. With this configuration the formal charge for each element is 0.

Yup that's what I got too! It works out very neatly with every atom having a formal charge of 0 :)
