How do you know if a species is a radical such as between the following NO2-, CH3, and OH?

A radical is an atom or molecule that has an unpaired valence electron. Having the unpaired electron makes these elements way more reactive.
Hope this helps!

You know a species is a radical if it has an unpaired electron so essentially going through the steps and figuring out which structures have an uneven number of electrons will allow you to see if it is a radical structure or not.

Count how many valence electrons each atom has, add them together taking into account the charge, if that number is odd then it will be a radical.
