By convention, the electrons are just represented as dots. I would avoid using lines to represent lone pairs, as lines are typically used to represent bonds between atoms, just to avoid confusion

I think you would use the line only when it is bonding with something else, so it wouldn't be a lone pair.

For a lone pair it would be better just to put it as a dot rather than a line. The line usually means a single bond, so to be safe put it as a dot.

I agree with the others. It is better to draw the dots for lone pairs and a line for bonds.
