Lewis Structures vs. Line Structures

Will we be drawing line structures in this course as well? Regardless, what is the benefit of each system for representing bonds compared to the other?

If you are referring to the lines Mr. Lavelle drew in lecture between the elements that were bounded together such as (C----C), the line just represents the covalent bond between the elements, 2e- per line.

I think we probably will be using lines in the future since it's a faster way of representing larger molecules, but the Lewis Structure allows you to see resonance and lone pairs more clearly so you can later determine the shapes of the molecules.
