How many numbers of electron pairs (both bonding and lone pairs) are there on the iodine atom in (a) ICl2 ; (b) ICl4 ;(c) ICl3; (d) ICl5?

(a) 2 bonding pairs and 2 lone pairs

(b) 4 bonding pairs and 2 lone pairs

(c) 3 bonding pairs and 2 lone pairs

(d) 5 bonding pairs and 1 lone pair

To know how to solve the problem, you want to find the most stable lewis structure so guess and check until you find a structure with the lowest formal charge.
