Axial bond angles are a unique type of bond angle usually seen in more complicated lewis structures. They are the bond angles involving the atoms on the axis of the molecule at a 90 degree angle to the equatorial plane. An example of an axial bond angle is the one seen in PCl5, which has a trigonal bipyramidal shape and an axial bond angle between the two upright chlorine atoms of 180 degrees.
