Will radicals be covered on the midterm?
Also, in homework problem 2C.5 you are asked to draw the Lewis Structure and determine is the molecule is a radical. For part a ClO-, how would you know that the one unpaired electron would be on the oxygen atom as opposed to the chlorine? Is there any way to predict this?

You know that the unpaired electron is on the oxygen atom because oxygen is more electronegative and thus wants the electron more.

Since oxygen has greater electronegativity, it will attract the lone electron.
