Lewis acids vs Lewis bases
What is the difference between a Lewis acid and a Lewis base? What are some examples of Lewis acids and Lewis bases?

Re: Lewis acids vs Lewis bases
Lewis base: electron donator (examples: anions like F-, molecules with lone pairs, complex anions)
Lewis acid: electron acceptor (examples: cations like H+, complex cations, molecules w/ incomplete octet)
Water (H2O) can be both a Lewis base (OH-) and a Lewis acid (H3O+)

Re: Lewis acids vs Lewis bases
The acid accepts an electron (to help remember I just remember they both start with an 'a') and that the base donates an electron!

Re: Lewis acids vs Lewis bases
I understand that Lewis acids and bases form a coordinate covalent bond, but is there a difference between the characteristics of a coordinate covalent bond and an ordinary covalent bond?
