Hey guys,
Could someone please explain how to answer this question:

(a) NO2
(b) CH3
(c) OH

Re: Determining if species are radicals
To determine if the species is a radical, you must draw out the lewis structure of each molecule. The molecules with electrons with unpaired spins are radicals.

Hello. You could also find the sum of the number of valence electrons in the molecule like when you draw lewis structures and if it is an odd number, then it is a radical because there will be an electron by itself

You need to figure out if it will have an unpaired electron!

You would have to illustrate each lewis structure and determine which one has an unpaired valence electron
