C3H4 Resonance Structures

Postby juliaddc » Mon Dec 11, 2023 12:01 am

C3H4
I was not able to include pictures of my structures but I can just describe it. basically I made a three carbon chain with one H attached to the first C and the last three hydrogens are bonded to the last C. My carbon chain is connected by a triple bond and a single bond, this is where the resonance comes from. I was only able to figure out two resonance structures by switching the location of the triple bond, but the problem was asking for one more resonance structure.
It ended up being some sort of triangular shape instead of a simple chain, my question here is, is there a way to predict these kinds of shapes when drawing resonance structures?
I apologize if it's worded a little weird.

Thank you!

Use the "Attachments" tab and you can upload your drawing. Also give the question wording and source.
