Resonance structures differ in the location of electrons. Isomers differ in the location of atoms. Tip: Usually Khan Academy on youtube helps me clear up anything I'm confused with or Crashcourse

^^^ agreed! also remember that resonance structures do NOT change the number of electrons and bonds it is just a rotation of where the bonds are held (only with areas that have 2 or more bonds). hope this help!

Just one more clarification, isomers are atoms/ions of different elements that have the same number of electrons because they have lost or gained electrons. Also keep in mind that a group of isomers, say one where the number of electrons is 10, would also include the atom that normally possesses that number of electrons, in this case neon. For example, all of the following would be isomers of neon:

F^1-, O^2-, N^3-, Na^1+, Mg^2+, Al^3+

All of the above ions contain 10 electrons like neon.

Hey! Great question!
So isomers have the same chemical formula (ex. C4H8) but a different arrangement of the atoms. While resonance the arrangement of the atoms is the same except the pi bonds are able to move around the molecule. Hope this helps! :D
