Is there a more efficient way to determine the most stable bond of a molecule than purely attempting all of the possible bonds?

I believe the most efficient way would be to calculate the formal charge of the atom. As it says in our notes, the most stable bond is when the formal charge is equal to 0. Finding the bonds necessary for the formal charge to equal 0 should only take a few steps, especially if we are able to anticipate how the elements bonding will affect the charge.

The structure with the lowest formal charge is the most effective structure.
