Whats the easiest way to determine the most stable resonance structure?

As long as the formal charge of the structure is closest to zero, I believe any resonance structure would be equally stable.

-Structures having filled octet a for second row elements (C, N, O, F) are stable.
-Structures having minimum number of formal charges and maximum number of bonds.
-Structure in which negative charge appears on the most electronegative atom (C < N < O).

Hope this helps a little!!

Using the criteria given by the reply above, if you are not sure during the test you can draw out many structures to compare the formal charge for the sake of clarity also. Hope that also helps!
