Resonance Structures

Postby jane_ni_2d » Thu Nov 08, 2018 1:32 pm

Are resonance structures generally stronger/more stable than other structures?

Resonance structures are generally more stable since they are lower in energy.

The actual structure of the molecules tends to be a hybrid of multiple resonance structures because it is the most stable.

Some molecules or ions cannot be expressed by a single Lewis structure, so we must draw the resonance in order to show the variety and they are all correct.
