Exceptions For Drawing Structures

Postby ShravanPatel2B » Sun Oct 27, 2019 12:57 pm

What are the main exceptions that we need to know for this class regarding drawing the structures? We talked about them in my section but I didn't understand what was exactly happening. If anyone could explain this to me it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Some exceptions to remember:
1. H, He, Li, and Be are exceptions to the Octet rule. That means they don't need 8 valence electrons.
2. P, S, and Cl can have more than 8 valence electrons. For example, in phosphorous pentachloride, phosphorous has 10 electrons.
