Resonance

Why are resonance structures more reactive?

I don't believe that resonance structures are more reactive. In fact, I believe thay resonance actually stabilizes molecules because it delocalizes the molecule and lowers the overall energy. The electrons have a greater space to occupy.

They are also more reactive beacuse the electrons have so many possibilities of where they could be at one time. The fancy word for it is delocalization but it makes more sense to me by thinking of it as in we just dont know where they could be because there are multiple favorable structures

Also, many molecules with resonance structures have charges, so they are likely to form ionic bonds. For example, a lot of polyatomic ions have resonance.

If it is a resonance structure, will the formal charge be the same throughout in all of them despite the bonds?
