Drawing Resonance Structures
When a question asks you to draw the resonance structure for the molecule, does that mean you have to draw every possibility of the bonds? What are you suppose to do?

Re: Drawing Resonance Structures
Yes, you draw all of the possible structures. This does not depict the real molecule but gets as accurate as possible with Lewis Structure diagrams.

Re: Drawing Resonance Structures
When you are asked to draw resonance structures, determine the most stable structure by filling octets, determining the formal charge, then drawing all the possible versions of this particular structure (i.e. if there is a double bond on one atom of which there is multiple, draw that same molecule with the double bond on a different atom of the same molecule.)

Yes! Draw every possibility of the bond. However, there will always be one "best" structure!
