Same formal charges, which resonance structure?

If there are two resonance structure options with the same total formal charge from different atoms, which atom would we want to put more negative charges on and which atom would we want more positive charges?

You want to put the negative formal charge on the more electronegative element, and vice versa!

I think that you would want the negative charge on the more electronegative element and you would also want like charges to be as far away from each other as possible.

The more electronegative atom would have the negative formal charge.
