Hello,
In this sapling question, the three resonance structures looked nothing alike(a question asked if any of the resonance structures resembled another). I'm confused because I thought resonance structures meant that the Lewis Structures were similar and the difference would be moving around double bonds (or something similar to this).
Hope someone can help!

Hi! We might have a different question #18 (I know sometimes it's different between students), but for mine, they wouldn't be resonance structures. They have different arrangements of their atoms, and they have different molecular formulas. In order for them to be resonance structures, they must have the same formula and they must have all of the atoms in the same place (only differing by bond order and lone pairs). I hope this helps :)

^^ the structures in my question showed no resonance either! Kinda a weirdly worded question if you ask me.

Same here!! It was question 17 for my sapling, but for the 3 structures of C3H4, none were resonance structures of each other

I agree with what was said above. My structures were not resonance structures either, but in general, the question was worded in a confusing way.

Hi! I agree that this question was worded differently and I believe they intended for you to just find the three completely different structure (no resonance) of the same compound.
