Sapling Week 7/8 Question 17

Postby Adam_Ventura_1H » Fri Nov 27, 2020 4:39 pm

I am having difficulty finding the resonance structures for C3H4. I. could only come up with the structure that has the carbons in the middle with double bonds and the two carbons on the sides each have 2 hydrogens. If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

These are the three structures I drew (by the way, these three are not resonance structures)

I struggled with this one so I ended up just submitting the answer and looking for the hints. Im sure you found the first one, the second one has a triple bond and is still linear, the last one is super tricky because is forms a triangular ring. Hope that guides you in the right direction!

There is also a structure that has the carbons connected in a triangle, surrounded by the hydrogens. This is the one I forgot about when I was doing the problem.
