Sapling Week 8 Q17
After many failed attempts I learned that one of the possible structures of C3H4 forms a sort of triangle shape. How do we figure out if a molecule forms an interconnected shape like that rather than just a standard linear molecule? To be more specific, are molecules with carbon in them always able to make shapes like triangles or rings?

Hi!
So this problem was tricky, but I think that we have to look at connected structures when they're organic compounds.

I believe that when there are more than 2 carbons, it's possible to form a ring structure. However, a ring structure might not always be favorable or occur in nature. I'm not completely sure about this but this is what I had thought of it as, I hope this helps!

It seems like multiple carbons can form a ring structure, as we have seen multiple examples of that in the lectures, but other than that, I can't say.

I just remembered that in the lectures we have seen multiple carbons form a ring structure, so I tested it out and got the correct structure. Honestly I wasn't so sure either and I had a bit of trouble.

does anyone know why exactly the ring structure is stable/what the benefit of forming a ring is?

I'm wondering the same thing!
