How can you tell if Resonance structures are one of another?

Structures must be resonant structures if the delocalized electrons are in equivalent positions across all structures. It is helpful to make sure that the number of bonding pairs and lone pairs of electrons are equal. The overall formal charge must be equal as well.

Resonance structures have the same number of electrons, although placement of those electrons may still change.

I always think of these as whether or not bonds can be found on other atoms in the molecule and maintain the appropriate number of electrons for the molecule along with a full octet.

I think of resonance structures as having the same atoms bonded to each other and the same relative positions of the atoms, only the electron locations change

Resonance structures should have the same number of electrons, do not add or subtract any electrons. (check the number of electrons by simply counting them). Resonance structures must also have the same amount of lone pairs. The location is the changing factor.

Hi! Resonance structures represent the same compound. The only aspect that differs is the arrangement of electrons (the number of electrons are the same).

Would most molecules have resonance structure?
