delocalized
what exactly are delocalized electrons? i don't think he defined it in yesterday's lecture and it's been awhile since i've taken chemistry.
Re: delocalized
Delocalized electrons are just electrons that aren't assigned to a specific bond, and so they are allowed to move and be shared across the entire molecule.
Hope this helps!

Re: delocalized
yes, and to add to that, when electrons are delocalized, it means that the kinetic energies of the valence electrons are going to be reduced, resulting in a more stable compound.
Re: delocalized
Delocalised electrons are spread throughout the resonance structure, thus increasing the stability of the structure

Re: delocalized
These are the electrons that are in the resonance structure. Remember that resonance structures can have equivalent bonds at different places.

Re: delocalized
Delocalized electrons means that a shared electron pair is distributed over several pairs of atoms and cannot be identified with just one pair of atoms. In other words, delocalized electrons are spread over several atoms in a molecule.
