$FC=V-(L+\frac{S}{2})$

### Formal Charges

If the most stable formal charge is 0, what does that mean for other charges? Is a +1charge more stable than a -1 charge? Hope someone can help me out, thanks!

No, +1 isn't necessarily more stable than -1.

However, if a highly electronegative atom has a + FC, this isn't favorable. For instance, you would rather see oxygen with a - FC than a + one since oxygen is a highly electronegative atom.
