oxidation numbers and resonance
How do you use oxidation numbers to predict resonance structures? I remember this was mentioned on the Sapling homework at some point.

I believe the same question mentioned that the most optimal method was not using the oxidation numbers to predict the resonance structures.

^ I agree. Resonance forms with low formal charges are favored. I think that's the best way to tell.

Oxidation numbers are hypothetical values, so using formal charge for specific resonance structures is probably better.
