D Orbital

Postby EliahBaez2I » Sat Nov 09, 2024 8:20 am

Are there any actual examples of molecules where d-orbital elements fill all 10 possible spaces for electrons? Would these molecules be more or less stable than those that only fill an octet?

I believe zinc in its +2 oxidation state has a full d orbital. It would be relatively stable because a filled d orbital would be low in energy and would resist gaining or losing an electron due to its full state.
