when there is an odd number of electrons and then a radical, can any element have the single electron or is it only a specific set?

When a molecule is a radical, usually the atom with the lower electronegativity will have the incomplete octet. The atom with higher electronegativity will pull more electrons to complete its octet so the other atom will have the missing electron. Hope this helps!
