Nonmetals vs. Metalloids

Postby Paula Dowdell 1F » Wed Nov 08, 2017 7:10 pm

Hi,
I read in the textbook that period three and on "non-metal" atoms may expand their valence shells. Are metalloids in this case considered non-metals?

The only metalloid in periods 1 and 2 is Boron, and Boron can't have an expanded octet.
