Octet Rules

Postby RichardValdez1L » Sun May 20, 2018 11:49 pm

Is Boron the only atom that has an incomplete octet?

No. Group 3 elements in general often have incomplete octets.

No. For example, hydrogen fulfills its incomplete octet with 2 valence electrons, beryllium is filled with 6. Many group 3 elements have this phenomena.

I believe hydrogen, helium, lithium, beryllium, boron, and aluminum follow the same exception to the octet rule. Correct me if I am wrong though please.

Hello :)
To answer your question, boron isn't the only element to have an incomplete octet. If you take a look at group 3 on the periodic table, those elements have incomplete octets as well.
