How do antioxidants react with radicals? What does this look like on a chemical level?

Antioxidants are able to give a single e- to a free radical without becoming destabilized themselves.

Antioxidants give an electron to radicals which keeps them from being harmful in the body

I don't exactly understand radicals; how do they form, and why? I was under the impression atoms usually have electrons in pairs. I do understand why they're so reactive comparatively, and why that would be harmful.

Antioxidants give an e- to a radical to stabilize it. Foods like dark berries contain a lot of these and are critical in a balanced diet to stabilize free radicals in the body.

antioxidants stabilize radicals by giving up a free electron. By stabilizing the radical, it is no longer able to attack the body and cause damage.

Radicals are highly reactive because they have one unpaired electron. Antioxidants prevent them from reacting by donating an electron to make an electron pair.

Afterwards, the antioxidants are simply excreted from the body! typically in the form of urination
