Arrhenius and Lewis Acids

Postby Cris_Flores_2F » Tue Nov 28, 2023 11:54 pm

Is there any correlation between Arrhenius acids/bases and Lewis acids/bases?

Hi, basically this is for the distinction:
Arrhenius:
- acid: supplies H+
- base:supplies OH-

Lewis
- acid: serves as an electron acceptor
-base: serves as an electron donor
A lewis acid is a substance that accepts a electron pair to form a new bond, while an Arrhenius acid increases the H+ ion when added to the water.
