Difference between the variation of Acids/bases defintion
how are there different definitions for acids/bases? like what constituents a acid and base that allows there to be different definitions? Do they have similar properties?

Re: Difference between the variation of Acids/bases defintion
Hello, I think there’s different definitions for acids/bases depending on the reaction, since acids accepts electron pairs from other substances. Whereas bases are substances that donate donate rather than accept electrons in a reaction. This is defined through Lewis methods, but there are also alternative definitions where acids are substances producing hydrogen ions (H+) or donate protons, and bases are substances that produce hydroxide ions and accept protons instead. These multi-dimensioned definitions allow for flexibility in their descriptions focus, like whether we’re paying attention to the formation of covalent bonds or describing the transfers between molecules. However acids and bases do have similar properties. These include conducting electricity when dissolved in water, changing color of indicators, and participating in neutralization.
