Covalent Bonds impact of Reactivity

Postby JohnVRobinson » Wed Dec 06, 2023 9:10 am

How does a covalent bond influence the reactivity of a molecule or ion? And would breaking the bond affect the molecule as-well?

In a covalent bond, electrons are generally shared equally between atoms. This makes a molecule more stable and less reactive than other compounds. If you break a covalent bond, the molecule would change since the bond holding it together doesn't exist anymore.
