Bonds vs donating electrons

We covered in class how ligands are electron rich and attracted to the positive cation of a transition metal. Does an actual covalent bond form, or are there just attractive forces between these compounds?

Yes! Ligand in a coordination complex from coordinate covalent bonds with the positive cation of a transition metal.
