Oxidation states "()" in naming coord compounds

Oxidation states "()" in naming coord compounds

Are oxidation states when naming coordination compounds always positive for the central metal atom/ion? The Roman numeral is always positive, so is the oxidation state always positive? Or how would the parenthesis "()" in the name look if the oxidation state was negative?

Yes the central atoms is always positively charged.

The metals lose electrons very easily so their charge is always positive.

It will always be positive. During exam, it's useful to calculate the oxidation state by including all the atoms in the molecule, just to make sure it's the right oxidation state :)
