So are the the atoms that create coordinate covalent bonds, Lewis bases?

Yes, all ligands in coordinate compounds are lewis bases because they donate electrons. The central metal atom then is a lewis acid

Yes, all coordinate covalent bonds involve Lewis bases, but not all Lewis bases involve coordinate covalent bonds. Hope this helps!

Yes, Lewis bases donate electrons (and Lewis acids accept electrons). However, Lewis bases can also form ionic bonds.

Yes, that is true! Just wanted to post about this resource, Khan Academy. I'm not sure if a lot of people are familiar with it but it is a really helpful additional resource to this class, as it goes over a lot of the same concepts. It's all free btw! Yes this is true as the Lewis base is the one donating electrons while the Lewis acid gains the electrons.

The Lewis base donates the electrons in coordinate covalent bonds, but Lewis bases don't solely create coordinate covalent bonds.

They are all lewis bases yes. But honestly it is good to double check anyways really quick just to make sure. Just know also not all lewis bases are CC bonds too!

Yes! Coordinate covalent bonds are created when a lewis acid and a lewis base come together to form a bond!

A bond formed between a Lewis base and a Lewis acid is a coordinate covalent bond.

Yes, Lewis bases which are usually anions (who can therefore donate electrons) create coordinate covalent bonds when attached to the acid.

Yes, they are Lewis Bases because they are electron donors. Electron acceptors aka proton donors are the Lewis Acids

Coordinate covalent bonds are bonds in which electrons are donated entirely by one of the atoms, instead of shared equally between the two

I understand that Lewis Bases are recognized as the donators of the bond in the same way that Lewis Acids are the acceptors, but are there any other bond that might occur? When might a Lewis Base not be involved with a coordinate covalent bond? And can the same be asked for Lewis Acids?
