Polarizing Calculations

Postby Bilal Pandit 1J » Sun Nov 10, 2019 11:13 pm

For the final/upcoming test, will we have to calculate how polarizing an atom is using electronegativity?

I don't think so. I don't believe we've learned how to do that, or if that's possible? Maybe just keep in mind how the size/charge of the atom affects polarizability and polarizing power.

I am not sure if we are going to have to do this for the upcoming test. I think it is best to email your TA and ask them but I also think doing the homework problems is the best way to study so if you have to calculate how polarizing an atom is using electronegativity in any of the homework problems, then expect to do it on the test.
