IE, EA, and electronegativity

Postby lucamirza » Fri Nov 01, 2024 3:41 pm

Will we be given values like electron affinity/ioniation energy/electronegativity? Or do we have to calculate them? And if that is the case, how do you do that?

Dr. Lavelle noted in class today that we would not need to memorize numerical values of electronegativity but rather be familiar with periodic trends. That is, we should be able to predict which element may have a higher electronegativity than another given its location on the periodic table. I assume that this holds true for ionization energy and electron affinity.
