Finding electronegativity

Postby Rachel » Thu Nov 16, 2023 1:53 pm

When looking at the achieve assignment for this week, how do we calculate electronegativity? Or is simply looking at the element's spot on the periodic table sufficient to determine its relative electronegativity?

Hey! Generally, I would look at the periodic table and determine how electronegative an element is based on periodic trends in electronegativity. I would also recommend remembering exceptions such as oxygen being less electronegative than nitrogen despite the periodic trend.

Hi! I would search up a periodic table with the electronegativity values, and use them with the formula to find the electronegativity of an atom.
