Hybrid Orbitals

Postby Jaime_Chamberlain_3G » Mon Oct 24, 2016 1:12 pm

I'm not sure if this is in the right subject area, but in the practice workbook quiz for quiz #2, question 4 asks to "Identify the hybrid orbitals used by the underlined atom in the acetone CH3COCH3 (the third C is underlined). How would I go about doing this?

Some of the practice quizzes have materials that have not been covered yet this quarter, so you do not have to worry about these topics we have not yet covered for this upcoming quiz.

How do hybrid orbitals work? What does it mean when they say that a bond is a mixture of a double and single bond?
