Electronegativity Relations

Postby Netpheel Wang 4L » Sun Nov 04, 2018 8:09 pm

How is electronegativity related ionization energy and electron affinity specifically?

electronegativity is value that is calculated using the measured values of electron affinity and ionization energy.

and electron affinity is the energy released when an electron is added to an atom and ionization energy is the energy required to remove an electron from an atom in its gaseous state

The main difference is that electronegativity is calculated using those two values.
