Greater Ionic character

for this hw question 3.77 "For each pair, determine which compound has bonds with greater ionic character: (a) HCl or HI; (b) CH4 or CF4;
(c) CO2 or CS2", I understand we need to choose the compound that has a greater difference in electronegativites between its atoms, but for letter c how do I distinguish between carbon and sulfur and then carbon with oxygen?

Carbon with Sulfur would be more electronegative since the trend of electronegativity is up and to the right, sulfur is below oxygen in its group.

Since sulfur is a period below oxygen, it is less electronegative than oxygen. Therefore, the difference in electronegativity between carbon and oxygen will be greater than that of carbon and sulfur.

Since Sulfur is below Oxygen in the periodic table, it is less electronegative. So Carbon and Oxygen have greater difference in electronegativity.
