Electronegativity
do we have to determine relative Electronegativites by periodic trends or is it given?

Re: Electronegativity
I'm thinking that electronegativity on the test may be applied based on periodic trends if it regards C, N, O, F, and Cl since those are the most electronegative elements (top right of periodic table).

Re: Electronegativity
Its good to know the trends either way. Electronegativity, electron affinity both increase up and to the right. Atomic radius increases down and to the left

Thank you I was wondering about that because I understood left to right is positive and down is negative.

You have to use periodic trends to determine relative electronegativities.
